Phyllis Said, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, passed away on March 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, learning, and generosity. Born in 1942, she married William Said in 1963, and together they built a life in Muncie centered around family, friendship, and community. A dedicated educator, Phyllis spent her career teaching kindergarten and first grade at Eaton Elementary. Her passion for learning extended beyond the classroom, leading her to participate in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program in the United Kingdom and work with the Delaware County Coalition for Literacy, the Muncie Area Reading Council, and the International Reading Association.

Phyllis also deeply loved nature and was an active member of the Indiana Wildlife Association and the Audubon Society. She found joy in sharing her creativity through quilting, crafting sock monkeys, and collecting humorous stories from her students. She was a cherished presence at the Minnetrista Museum & Gardens, where she delighted in engaging with the community. Above all, she loved her family and was a devoted mother to Denise Said Pullins (Grant) and Douglas Said (Elizabeth), and a proud grandmother to Hannah and Allison Said. Her brothers, Richard Donhauser (Joan) and Phillip Donhauser (Abby) also survived her.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all whose lives she touched. Her warmth, humor, and dedication to helping others will live on in the many hearts she inspired.

Family and friends may call at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N St. Rd. 3, Muncie IN 47303, on Monday, March 31st, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
