R. Tony Monroe, 54, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Tony was born on April 15, 1953. He was the son of Phyllis Phillips and S.Q. Phillips (both deceased).
He leaves behind his wife Barbara of 33 years, four sons; Tony (Beth) Monroe of Eaton, IN; William (Anna) of Virginia Beach, VA; Josh (Misty) of Anderson, IN; Stephen of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter Melissa (Gary) Rumfelt of Muncie, IN; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Jake, Caiden, Ashlynn, Jailun, Camryn, Tyler, Dakin and Devin; brothers; William Phillips, Delmar Phillips, Larry Phillips, Louie Phillips, Monty Phillips, all of Muncie, IN; two sisters Cathy Burnum of Muncie, IN; Pat Phillips of Hollywood, FL. James and David Burnum of Muncie IN.
Tony lived in the Muncie area most of his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Delta High School and worked for McGuff Supply for 25 years before moving to Virginia Beach in 1998.
Preceded in death by granddaughter Kiera Monroe and Brother Albert Phillips
He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 7, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Rob Farris will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
