Ralph F. "Max" Hottinger, 73, of Muncie, IN passed away in his residence Thursday, February 15, 2007. He was born on July 23, 1933 the son of Fredrick R. and Bernice E. (Gallup) Hottinger. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1952. On February 23, 1963 he married Naomi E. (Wiley) Hottinger at the Southside Christian Church in Muncie.
Ralph and his wife owned and operated Max''s Auto Glass for 40 years before returning in 2001 leaving the business to son, Ron Hottinger. He had also worked at the Marhofer Meat Packing Company for 10 years and operated the Wagon Wheel Antique Shop. He enjoyed working on antique clocks and was a member of the National Clock and Watch Association.
Surviving relatives include four sons, Rick Hottinger (wife: Lisa) of Oklahoma City, OK; Ron Hottinger of Muncie; Randy Hottinger (wife: Ramona) of Johnson City, TN; and Scott Schoeff (wife: Gay) of Bluffton, IN; two daughters, Michelle Harrell (husband: Eric); and Stephenia Butterfield (husband: Don) of Muncie; two brothers, Charles Hottinger (wife: Ardith) of Adrian, MI; and Ben Hottinger (wife: Marge) of Ft. Wayne, IN; one sister, Evelyn Marie Unger (husband: Chad) of Muncie; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three caregivers, Vanessa, Wanda, and Amy; and his beloved dog, Penny Poodle. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, parents, and loving daughter, Jennifer I. Hottinger.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Entombment will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
