Ralph E. Smith, 72, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2008, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born, June 18, 1935, in Muncie the son of Charles H. and M. Pearl (Gettys) Smith and graduated from Royerton High School in 1953. Mr. Smith was a contractor and farmer in Delaware County all of his life.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Propst) Smith; three sons, Rev. Jeff Smith (wife-Ronda), West Point, Jerry Smith, Roanoke, VA, and Danny Smith, Muncie; seven grandchildren, Maria Phillips (husband-Jordan), St. Kitts, Virgin Islands, Jared Smith (wife-Lorel), Muncie, Luke Smith, Gaston, Nick Smith (wife- Allison), Santa Monica, CA, Jessica Smith (fianc -Scott Van Dyke), Champaign, IL, Audrey Smith, Muncie, and Hannah Smith, Muncie; his sister-in-law, Tressie Smith, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2008. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
