Obituary

Raymond Earl Robinson, 88, passed away Thursday morning, February 28, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 3, 1920 in Portland, the son of Miriam (Eglan) Robinson and A.E. Robinson. Raymond grew up in Muncie and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1939. He worked for Nation-Robinson Printing and retired from Muncie Newspaper in 1985.
His memberships include the D.A.V. and the USS Helena Organization and he attended Madison Street United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Hartford City American Legion. Ray was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing and photography.
Mr. Robinson enlisted in the US Navy September 30, 1941 and served on the USS Helena and the USS Houston, both of which were torpedoed and sunk.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett (Fuller) Robinson; one son, Kenneth A. Robinson, (wife-Judy), Muncie; one daughter, Vickie Wingate, (husband-Bill), Muncie; three grandchildren, Ken Alan Robinson, Chris Robinson, (wife-Christa) and Jessica Wingate; one step grandson, Matt Carver; four great grandchildren, Taylor, John, Leah and Jacob; one niece, Nikki Barnes, (husband-Roy); a great nephew, Kenneth; a great niece, Lisa; and two cousins, Dick Eglan, (wife-Phyllis) and their family and Paula Ruddell, (husband-Bob), and their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenneth Robinson.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Rev. Jack Hartman officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday or after 12 noon on Monday.
