Rebecca "Janiece" Matchett Muncie, Indiana

Rebecca "Janiece" Matchett, 95, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at Westminster Village in Muncie. She was born on March 28, 1930, in Salamonia, Indiana, to the late William and Verna Long.

On November 6, 1948, Rebecca married the love of her life, Lewis E. Matchett, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2021. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and community. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling.

Rebecca is survived by her son, Steve Matchett of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren: Shane Finnegan (Karen) of Muncie, Ryan Finnegan (Jessica) of Spokane, Washington, Rachael Taylor (Adam) of Noblesville, Indiana, Daniel Matchett (Cara) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Brandon Matchett (Cheryl Tawil) of Indianapolis, Indiana. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rebecca was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Matchett; her daughter, Susie Finnegan; and several other loved ones who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Eden Church, 11205 North State Road 3, Muncie, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at the church, officiated by Pastor Tammy Hallam. Burial will take place in Salamonia Cemetery, Salamonia, Indiana.
