Richard M. Burns of Yorktown, Indiana died at the age of 70 on Monday, February 15, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Robert Burns, Jr. and Jere (Bates) Burns.
Richard was a native of New Albany, Indiana. He will be missed by his family, who loved talking with him about all of his passions in life. He worked in transportation in Daleville, Indiana as a President and CEO. He loved deer hunting in Hoosier National Park, fishing trips to Michigan and Lake Norfolk, Arkansas, and golfing. He also loved his sports teams, the Cardinals, Colts, and Hoosiers. Rich was a lifetime member at the Elks Golf Club, served on the Delaware County Sheriff Merit Board, and was Chairman of the Indiana Motor Trucking Association. He is loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
Richard is survived by his nephews, William Robert "Bobby" Burns, IV of Charleston, South Carolina and Michael V. Burns of Cumming, Georgia; nieces, Angela Berger of Antigo, Wisconsin and Kristi Barnard of Green Bay, Wisconsin; five great nephews; and one great niece.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert Burns, Jr. and Jere (Bates) Burns and brothers, William Robert "Bob" Burns, III and Ralph Kenneth "Kenny" Burns.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie. Private inurnment services will be held at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 9:00 AM. Effective Monday, February 8, 2021, Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery are limited to a maximum of 50 people wearing masks inside or outside. Once the maximum is reached, additional visitors will be permitted for entry only as others exit. Thank you for your cooperation.
