Richard Orville Collins, age 90, of Yorktown, IN passed away on Friday September 5, 2014 at The Waters of Yorktown. Born on June 10, 1924, in Muncie, IN he was the son of Orville and Theresa (Siegwart) Collins.
Richard was a lifetime area resident. He attended Muncie Central High School with the Class of 1942. On November 13, 1947 Richard married Barbara Morrical in Muncie.
He worked as a rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and retired in 1980.
Richard was a member of River of Life Church in Muncie. He was a member of the Retired Rural Letter Carriers. His hobbies included woodworking and making tin men. Richard was a very patriotic and devoted Christian man, who was loved by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Collins of Yorktown; son Richard E. (Tamara) Collins of Muncie; 4 daughters Judy (Joe) Reiber of Mooresville, TN, Dixie (Lewis) McNiece of Amarillo, TX, Elizabeth (Russ) Drayton of Middleville,MI, and Anna (John) Shunk of Mooresville,TN; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Alice Cox, and a brother Charles "Buck" Collins.
Visitation will take place on Monday September 8, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie.
Funeral services for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 9, 2014 at the funeral home with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor John Martin will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
