Richard Leon Martin, 70, of Yorktown, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on New Year's Day, with family by his side.  Richard was born on June 14, 1949 in Muncie, to the late Kenneth Ray and Ruth Alice (Davis) Martin, Sr.   Richard graduated from Muncie Southside High School in January 1967.

Richard worked for and retired from Muncie Chevrolet after 29 years of service.  He was a faithful Christian whom loved the Lord and his church.  His second and equally important love was toward his family.  Richard loved to listen to all types of music, attend flea markets and festivals, and sunbathe by the pool.  Richard also had a love for Florida, as he and his wife moved to Mount Dora for 7 years.

Richard was church-oriented and family-oriented and will be missed by many, including his loving wife of 36 years, Lola (Wright) Martin; children: Tracie (Kory) Kord, Richard T. (Emily) Martin, Ryan C. (Diana) Martin, Lisa (Dewey) Miller, and Ronda (Andrew) Talbott Welches; brother, Kenneth Ray Martin, Jr. (companion, Chuck); 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several cousins; and his church family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

As a final request of Richard to be within his house of worship, visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in True Light Baptist Church, Country Club Road, Muncie, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m., also in the church.  Pastor Dennis Trimble will officiate the service.    Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.  Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.gardenviewfuneralhome.com .
