Richard James McGregor, 83, of Muncie, went to be with Jesus, Tuesday, July 29th, 2014 at Signature Healthcare of Muncie, following a brief illness. He was born February 8th, 1931 in Dayton, PA, and was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt & Margaret (Shrecengost) McGregor.
Richard proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Silverthorn Auto Body, retiring in 1993. Richard enjoyed collecting Lionel trains, and fabricating some train cars out of aluminum. He enjoyed building cars for his collection.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ollie Ruth (Woods) McGregor of Muncie; two sons David McGregor (Menna) of Muncie, and Mark McGregor (Jan) of Selma; two daughters, Julie and Deborah McGregor of Plano, TX; four grandchildren, Caleb McGregor, Brittany McGregor, Samuel McGregor, and Lychell Ford (Aaron) all of Muncie; a great-grandchild Raelyn Ford of Muncie; a sister Glorie Dillie of Muncie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Davis and Sonda Smith; two brother-in-laws, Jack Brown and Charlie Dillie; a sister-in-law Marie Sallee; a granddaughter Nicole McGregor; a grandson Michael Christopher McGregor.
Funeral services for Richard will be held Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard, in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 1st, 2014 at the funeral home.
