Richard E. "Rick" Cook, age 63, of Muncie and formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 with his loving family at his side. Richard was born June 19, 1948 in Marion, IN to Allen S. and Ruth Maxine (Kistler) Cook. Rick was a graduate of Royerton High School, Class of 1966. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Design Draftsman for many years. Rick loved to draw, travel and was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was a past member of Muncie Hometown Lions Club.
Rick married Shirley L. "Syd" Cooper on June 6, 1969 in Muncie and she survives along with daughters, Dionne M. Beabout, of Yorktown, Nicole Leann Cook, of Muncie and Danielle Meiring (husband Todd) of Gaston; his mother, Ruth Maxine Cook; brothers, Michael A. Cook (wife Jeniffer) of Muncie, Steven E. Cook (wife Sally) of Muncie, and Robert L. Cook (wife Connie) of DeLand, FL; eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Hamilton Township Lions Club. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides with IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice.
