HARTFORD CITY - Richard Marvin Langdon "Sam", 76, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, Ind.
He was born on July 7, 1934 in Eaton, IN to the late Mark Langdon and the late Murl (Rarick) Langdon.
Sam graduated from Hartford City High School in 1952.
He married Ruth Ann (Overmyer) Langdon on April 3, 1955 at EUB Church (now known as Trinity United Methodist Church).
Sam retired from Renner Express as a truck driver after 30 years. He drove a school bus for Blackford County Schools for 10 years.
He loved to golf and was a member of Lakeview Greens Golf Course in Eaton, IN.
Sam will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth Ann Langdon of Hartford City; daughters, Lisa Ann (husband, Lawrence "Larry") Hall of Fishers; Nancy L. (husband, Mark) Vanderbur of DeWitt, Michigan; Joni L. (husband, Chris) Pearson of Upland; son, Andrew Mark "Andy" Langdon of Hartford City; grandchildren, Laura N. Vanderbur, Drew Vanderbur, Abby Pearson and Gavin Pearson; brothers, Donald Langdon of Decatur; David (wife, Margaret) Langdon of Hamilton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to issue a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Pointe and Family Hospice of Berne for their excellent care of Sam.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edsel Langdon.
Funeral service for Sam will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
