Muncie - Richard G. Shaffer, 75, died early Wednesday morning, August, 25, 2010, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born February 5, 1935 in Muncie, the son of Paul and Evelyn (Parker) Shaffer. Dick graduated from Selma High School in 1953 and later attended Ball State University. He spent his entire life in this area.
Dick was employed for more than thirty years with Riggin's Dairy prior to his retirement and was a life long member of Selma United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Lisa Shaffer Wedmore; his son, Christopher "Trey" Shaffer; a sister, Penny Warfel (husband, Larry); a brother, Jack Shaffer (wife, Sue); and nine nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard G. Shaffer II in 1965; his wife, Ruby A. Shaffer in 1998; and his parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 30th, 2010, in Selma United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Ellcessor officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday or after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mr. Shaffer always had a great love for animals.
