Robert “Bob” A. Booher, 88, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following a brief illness. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on March 26, 1938, to Harold and Elsie Booher.

He was a faithful member of High Street United Methodist Church. Bob graduated from Selma High School in 1956. During high school, he enjoyed basketball, baseball, and track and was named “Athlete of the Year” during his senior year. He also treasured the simpler moments of those years, which included cruising around in his car, spending time with friends, and being with his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Merry.

After high school, Bob attended Ball State University before beginning a 37-year career with Nestlé USA, specializing in the chocolate candy division. A dedicated and highly respected employee, he earned numerous awards for his incredible work ethic and exceptional sales and marketing skills. His love for the chocolate business and his playful spirit was perfectly captured one Easter morning when he anonymously left three-foot chocolate bunnies on his neighbors’ front porches. That was just who Bob was: kind, giving, selfless, and always looking for a way to make someone smile.

Bob loved sports, especially basketball and March Madness. If there was a game on TV, chances were, Bob was watching. In recent years, he became an especially devoted fan of the Indiana Fever. He spent many wonderful summers at his lake home on Lake Shafer, where he enjoyed boating, water skiing, and gathering with family and friends around the evening bonfire. Those summers were filled with laughter, conversation, and memories his family will forever cherish. Bob had a lifelong love of classic American cars, especially Corvettes and Mustangs, and took great pride in his collection. He was a proud member of the Central Indiana Classic Car Club, and he treasured the friendships and camaraderie with others who shared his passion for beautiful classic automobiles.

Those who knew Bob will remember his laid-back nature, his sense of style, his striking blue eyes, his love of a freshly waxed and sparkling car, and, of course, his sense of humor. Most of all, Bob was an all-around great man. He enjoyed life, saw the good in people, and made others feel welcome.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Norma (Garland) Miller and Nancy (Max) Moore and nephew Troy Miller.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Bonnie Merry Booher; his son, Brent (Teresa) Booher of McCordsville, Indiana; his daughters, Belinda (Dave) Booher Sobek of Lapel, Indiana, and Bridgett (Tim) Booher Lambdin of Traverse City, Michigan; his grandchildren, Ashleigh (James) Cox, Brayton (Jessica) Booher, Zach (Morgan) Booher, Colt Lambdin, and Sage Lambdin; and his bonus grandchildren, Nikki Balaszek, Amy Taylor, Mark Taylor, and Megan Sobek. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Luke, Mac, Royce, Madden, and Leo, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories, lasting friendships, and a family who loved him dearly. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the joy he found in life. He lived a full and happy life.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm at the funeral home with Chaplain Les Turner officiating.

Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
