Robert “Bobby” Covington, 85, of Muncie, passed away on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Anderson, IN, on December 8th, 1940, to Otis and Vivian (Ockomon) Covington.

Bobby worked for Emge Packaging Co. for many years. He was hardworking, strong-willed and boy was he stubborn! Bobby lived life his own way and, though he was a man of few words, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering, working on cars, watching NASCAR and football, and tuning in to his favorite westerns.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen (Hahn) Covington; brother, Mike (Doty) Covington; sons, Rusty (Brenda) Covington and Randy Covington; daughters, Robin (Guy) Thrasher and Lori Covington; stepchildren, Orie Parkhurst, Christine (Scotty) Brown, Keith (Kelly) Johnson, Bradley (Rita) Johnson and Michelle (Mike) Darnell; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Tommy “TC”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis & Vivian; his former wife of 24 years, Zelma (Hodge) Covington; brother, Thomas “Tommy” Covington; sisters, Carol Parkhurst and Dorothy Simmons; stepchildren, Tina Long, Shirley Dugger, Mike Parkhurst, Mary Parkhurst, Randall “Red” Parkhurst, and Bryan Johnson; and his beloved dog, Buttons.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, Nov 2, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.

A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Trimble officiating.

A burial will take place at 2:00 pm at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
