Robert D. Cox, 83, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born in Muncie, the son of Robert R. and Esther Cox, attended Muncie Central High School, later served with the Army during WW II, and spent most of his life in this area.
Robert was employed for more than thirty years with Warner Gear prior to his retirement in 1975.
Mr. Cox enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, auto racing, and collecting Hot Wheels. He also loved to be with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Beth A. Sorrell, Mark A. Cox (wife, Stephanie), and Rick J. Cox (wife, Teresa); grandchildren, Brandon (wife, Amanda), Marci (husband, Craig), Jennifer, Tyler, Adrian (wife, Zhenya), Ryan (wife, Summer), Zach (wife, Cyndi), Shyenne and Courtney; great grandchildren, Madison, Malia, Brady, Mack, Ava, Gabriel, Colin, Catarina, and Corin; his sister, Dorothy Babb; and his brother Vernon Cox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheri D. Cox in 2008.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Mike Konkle officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory or one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
