Obituary

Robert (Bob) Eugene Dowling, 79, of Muncie passed away Sunday October 21, 2012 at I.U.Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born January 14, 1933 in Muncie and was the son of the late Ray and Martha (Harrold) Dowling. Robert graduated from Harrison Township in 1951. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Robert was the Transportation Director of the Wes-Del Community Schools for 32 years and also a bus driver for many years. In addition he was an avid Wes-Del fan and a regular at the Mill Street Inn roundtable. Robert was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren in Muncie and of the Friendly Steppers Square Dance Club. He was also a past member of the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge 33 in Muncie and of American Legion Post 387 in Gaston. Surviving is Loving wife of 60 years Wanda Dowling of Muncie; children Steven (Donna) Dowling of Gaston, Rick (Sandi) Dowling of Yorktown, Douglas (Kelly) Dowling of Gaston, and Deborah (Joe) New of Muncie; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; Mother-in-law Thelma Rector of Muncie; Aunt Joan Harrold of Muncie; and extended family Ronnie (Kathy) Holloway of Anderson. Friends may call on Wednesday October 24, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday October 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with calling 1 hour prior. Pastors Mark Dill and Brandon Petro will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
