Robert Franklin Herbert, 75, passed away on July 12, 2008 at home following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Muncie on October 10, 1932. He was the son of Marguerite and Elmer Herbert. He retired as a custodian from Delta High School in 1995. He was a Korean War Veteran.
Bob loved his three dogs; Baby, Buddy, and Teddy; camping, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed bowling on the Moose Invitational League and the Senior Citizens bowling tournament each year bowling in the mixed doubles with friend, Connie Burns. He was an avid camper and spent most of his summers at the Prairie Creek Reservoir. He was a life member of the Eagles Lodge and the Muncie Moose.
Surviving is his son Kenneth W. Herbert of Muncie and two grandchildren Ashley and Aaron; a step-son Sam Roe, daughter in law Shelly, and three step-grandchildren, his companion Juanita Fouch who lovingly took care of him during his short illness, Juanita's children, Paula (Jerry) Wright of Parker; Allen (Peggy) Fouch of Gaston, Fred Fouch of Muncie, Paul Fouch (children: Patrick and Judy, of Stafford, Virginia); one sister Patricia Cooper of Selma, and one brother Gerald Herbert (wife: Shirley) of Muncie; one sister-in-law, Diane Herbert of Muncie, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Roe) Herbert, a step-son Chris Roe; his parents, two sisters, Inabelle Clark and Ermajean Wagner; two brothers and a sister-in-law Elmer (Curly) Herbert (wife: Delores Herbert) and Garland (Donnie) Herbert; two brother-in-law Gerald Cooper and Gene Clark; two nephews Albert and Elmer Lee Clark.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 16, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Kevin Holt will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Military Rites will be performed at the cemetery by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ball Memorial Hospice or the Little Red Door Cancer Services of Delaware County.
