Robert Paul Mayo, Jr.
November 29, 1950 – April 22, 2025

Robert Paul Mayo, Jr., of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on November 29, 1950, in Portland, Indiana, Bob lived his entire life in Dunkirk, where he was known for his intelligence, kindness, and quiet strength.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paul Mayo, Sr. and Mary Alice Whitehurst Mayo, as well as his beloved sister, Judith Kaye Mayo Skinner.

A proud graduate of Dunkirk High School and Ball State University, Bob dedicated over 30 years of his career to engineering roles at various divisions of General Motors, including Delco Remy and Delphi. His work took him around the world—from South Korea to Brazil and the Middle East—where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues across cultures.

Bob had a lifelong passion for basketball, both playing and watching, and a deep appreciation for cars, especially his cherished Corvettes. His warmth, humor, and loyalty will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Josh Johnson at the funeral home. With interment to be Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
