Robert was born February 12, 1916, in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Bertie and Annie McVey. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII. He retired after 30 years of employment from Delco Battery of Muncie in 1976. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed history.
Robert is survived by four children, Naomi Cook of Muncie, Roy McVey (wife Mildred) of Marion, Bennie McVey (wife Mary) of Fayetteville, AR, and Myrtle Stanford of Lake Wales, FL; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife in 1998, after 65 years of marriage, Vernie McVey; a granddaughter, two sisters, and one brother.
A funeral service to celebrate Robert''s life will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2014, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, Indiana. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember two hours prior to service, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Garden View Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor''s choice in memory of Robert.
