Obituary

Robert Wilson Newton, 87, of Muncie, died late Sunday morning, February 15th, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born October 5th, 1927 in Lapel, IN and was the son of the late Eldon Lee & Ida Alice (Hersberger) Newton.
Robert retired from Westinghouse. He served for 20 plus years as a Boy Scout Troop Leader to Troop #119. Robert loved raising and helping children, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and was an avid Chicago Cub''s Fan. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sharon Kay (Patterson) Newton of Muncie; five daughters, Joy Unrein (Darrel) of Columbia, TN, Judy Wilson (Joseph) of Denver, CO, Janet Rose Miller (Gary) of Gurnee, IL, Amber L. McCreary (Jerry) of Billings, MT, and Frances Hilburger (Mark) of Carmel; a brother Monroe Lee Newton of Cookeville, TN, and a sister Sarann Mustard (Donald) of Muncie; a granddaughter Mecca L. Jensen of Muncie; several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Jimmy Pattison; two brothers Eugene & Herb Newton, and a sister Frances Newton.
Funeral Services for Robert will be held privately for the family. Burial with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane, Irving TX 75015-2079. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home.
