Robert Lowell Oliphant, 80, of Muncie, IN, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence in Muncie. He was born on November 3, 1929 in Parker City, IN to the late Joseph Vernon and Mildred Faye (Bullard) Oliphant.
Bob is an Army veteran who served his country from February 1951 to December 1952. Bob then joined Borg Warner in Muncie as a machine operator. There he was employed for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Bob loved to coon hunt; work on mowers, TVs and vehicles; and enjoyed traveling to Kentucky.
Surviving relatives include his children: Mike Oliphant (companion, Ginny Falls) of Muncie; Cheryl Barnhouse (husband, Larry) of Muncie; Faye Delk (husband, Danny) of Muncie; and Debra Bartley (companion, Bryan Newton) of Marion, IN; brothers: Charles Oliphant (wife, Phyllis) of Muncie and Donald Oliphant (wife, Marlese) of Yorktown; 17 grandchildren including Bobby Nealy; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Priscilla (Doss) Oliphant; son Robert Wayne Oliphant; and sister Elsie Street.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Military honors will be given by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Visitation will also be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
