Robert D. York, 81, of Muncie passed away suddenly Thursday September1, 2022 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital. Bob, a Muncie native, was born on March 16, 1941 to Milo and Margaret York.

His love for sports, hunting, and fishing were forged in him during his adolescence. Bob worked in various factories during early adulthood, including the wire mill. He worked in several different bars during his career but his pride and joy was the bar he and his late wife ran, Yorkie's Lounge. Bob was known for his sharp tongue and his loudly expressed opinions, and though his smile was rare it was bright. The Muncie (Central) Bearcats basketball team lost an avid fan, and his favorite Bearcats jacket will be retired. Bob's sports trivia knowledge was never ending: he could provide odd stats for a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, and football. His preference for entertainment included Western movies, American Pickers, and Law & Order SVU. Except for Stabler. Bob hated Stabler. He will be remembered for his love of sports, his ever present hat, and his rare smile.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Milo and Margaret, his dear wife Dean in 2002, his stepdaughter Kim in 2020, all but one sibling, and countless friends.

He leaves behind his sister Rosemary (Davis), his four grandchildren Shane Wilson, Samantha Case, Kyle Case & Britney Case, and his son-in-law Tim Case and a scattering of nieces and nephews.

Calling will be on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at Garden View Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303.Service will be at 12:00 P.M. with burial to follow at Gardens Of Memory Cemetery. Per request of family no Flowers, Please.
