Roberta J. Poland, age 87, of Muncie, passed away Sunday January 1, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born August 7, 1924 in Muncie to Matthew and Lucy (Bertschi) Bailey. Roberta was Salesperson and Alteration Specialist at JC Penney for 12 yrs. She attended St. Andrew''s Presbyterian Church. She loved to sew and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Roberta married Robert E. Poland in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Barton (husband Russell) of Summitville; sisters, Ethel Zebelle (husband Ted) of Van Nuys, CA and Carlene MacCouster of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, David Snodgrass (wife Amy) of Eaton, IN, James Ian Snodgrass, of Orlando, FL, Justin Snodgrass (wife Ali), of Eaton, IN and Jadrienne Snodgrass of Eaton, IN; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Terry J. Poland, four brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with visitation from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
