Roger Olin York of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 75 in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born in Oakridge, Tennessee on April 5, 1946 to Olin and Clella (Lockhart) York.
Roger was a truck driver for 40 years. He started driving for Carl Subler Trucking and also drove for Munson, Heartland, Ceva, and numerous other companies. He loved his family and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He loved Nascar, old cars, soap operas, and crime shows. He was an avid Facebook fan. He loved to travel and visit state parks.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carolyn (Greer) York of Muncie; sister, Peggy Fuller of Austin, Texas; sons, Richard Greer (Angela) of Tallahassee, Florida and Michael Greer (Barbara) of Muncie; uncle, Arthur Lockhart of Berkley, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Joseph Day, Diana Leonard, Nate Jenkinson, Leah Greer, Hadden Greer, Aiden Greer, and Landon Greer; seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Clella (Lockhart) York; daughter, Gail Ann (York) Edwards; sons, Roger Clay York and Jonathan Greer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Roger will be missed by his loving wife, the love of his life. He will forever be remembered as a true gentleman and our gentle giant, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He is in our hearts and minds forever. A special thank you to Joan Lacy, Dana Kepner, and friend, Stephanie Sanders, for being there for the family during this trying time. We will all be together again on a paradise earth!
