Russell W. Bailey Jr., age 85, of Muncie, IN passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on July 13, 2013 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1928 in Bristol and was the son of the late Russell W. and Agnes (Kleinert) Bailey Sr.
Russell married the love of his life Doris E. Donat on July 30, 1950 in Rome City. In addition to being a farmer and working for Anchor Hocking he worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Farmland for 31 years until his retirement.
Russell was a loving, quiet, independent, hard working man who always put his family first. He will be greatly missed. "God has a winner!"
Survivors include loving wife of nearly 63 years Doris Bailey of Muncie; children Deb Richie of Ohio, Sandra (Doug) Meranda of Muncie, Janet (Barry) Earley of Converse, Susan Rose of Topeka, KS, and James Bailey of Muncie; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Betty Berhalter of Kendallville and Mary Stuart of Brimfield.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and a grandson.
Friends may call on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3. Funeral service for Russell will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Barry Earley officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
