Ruth Ellen Blankenship, 72, of Muncie died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born March 28, 1945 in Ironton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late William E. & Pauline M. (Summers) Buck.
Ruth worked for many area nursing homes as a CNA, she most recently worked for Westminster Village in Muncie. She was a member of Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church of Muncie. Ruth was also employed in the dining service at Ball State University.
Ruth is survived by her husband Richard L. Blankenship of Muncie; a son Bill Filkins of Celina, OH; a daughter Rachel Resler (Joe) of Muncie; six grandchildren Nichole Kelley (Ryan) of Indianapolis, Austin Filkins of Michigan, Ashley Oyer (Evan) of Indianapolis, Logan and Seth Filkins both of Celina, OH, and Athena Dedrich (Matt) of Muncie; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers John E. Summers of Mansfield, Ohio and Keith Edward Buck of Ironton, Ohio; two sisters Karen E. Beard of Mansfield, Ohio and Marilyn J. Cruz of Florida.
Funeral Services for Ruth will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor James Oliver McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 at the funeral home.
