Ruth E. Elenburg, 89, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at Parker Health Care and Rehabilitation in Parker City.
Ruth was born July 11, 1926 in Double Springs, Alabama to the late Abraham and Viola (Welborn) Dickinson. She married William L. Elenburg on March 26, 1948. They were married 60 years before his passing in 2009. Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by three children, Jerry Elenburg, Gary Elenburg (wife Alberta), and Sherri Richardson (husband Robert) all of Muncie; six grandchildren, Eric Elenburg, Jason Elenburg, Shannon Winter, Tracey Malnofski (husband Mike), Jared Richardson, and Jenna Eastham (husband Jon); five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Aileen Ellenburg; a sister-in-law, Lavonia Taylor (husband Sam) of Double Springs, AL; and a brother-in-law, Jr. Childers of Eva, AL.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers.
A funeral service to celebrate Ruth''s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3 in Muncie. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Garden View Funeral Home.
