Ruth Violet "Vi" Lannerd, age 89, of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Friends Fellowship Community.
Born June 14, 1918, in Richmond to Everett W. and Nellie M. Kite Adams, she lived in Muncie for 23 years before moving to Alamo, Texas, in 1982. Vi was a 1936 graduate of Morton High School. She worked for Industrial Trust & Savings Bank, now NBD of Muncie for 23 years in Deposit Accounting, retiring in 1979 as Assistant Cashier.
Vi was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Muncie. Before moving to Texas she was a member of Ladies of the Moose #33 of Muncie and was active in the Lady Elks #245 of Muncie. Survivors include her niece, Doris J. Gehrig and husband George of Richmond; nieces and nephews including Vicky Hooker, Ed, Mark and Rick Killion; and special friend, Earl LaValley of Alamo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith H. Lannerd who died January 27, 1997; nieces, Elsie June Sharp, Diana Schwetfeger and Jennifer Adams; nephew, Robert E. Adams; and brothers, Dawson, Raymond, Rayburn and Carl E. Adams.
Funeral service for Ruth Violet "Vi" Lannerd will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Malone will officiate.
Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Muncie, IN.
Additional visitation will be at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 22.
