Obituary

Samuel D. Stills Jr., 86, passed away on June 26, 2009.
He was born August 18, 1922.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Navy in the Philippines on the ship the USS Zeilen. He received two purple hearts and the Philippines Liberation Medal presented by The Embassy of The Philippines.
He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Men's Ministry.
He was employed at Stillmans Department Store. He was a Master shoe builder for 26 years at Clyde Edwards Shoes. He was later employed at Chevrolet of Muncie.
Sam loved to ride and rebuild bicycles and give the bicycles to children in the neighborhood who could not afford a bicycle. He fought in The Golden Gloves.
He was a cancer survivor.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Otee Stills; two sons, Robert Samuel Stills of Indianapolis and Howard Lance Stills of Muncie; one daughter, Marcia Lynn Bonds (Steven) of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Rosa Lee Cole and aunt, Effie Williams of Dayton Ohio; uncle, Carl Fraction of Los Angeles CA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel D. Sr. and Carrie Stills; one brother, William Stills; two sisters, Nellie Williams and Pecola Stills.
Funeral service will be Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor W.J. Jackson will be officiating.
Calling hours will be Thursday July 2, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
