Shirley Mae Griffis Green went home to be with Jesus at the age of 86 on Sunday, October 15th, of 2023. She was born on February 7th, of 1937 in Smithtown, Kentucky to parents Thomas and Rosemary Griffis.

Shirley graduated from McCreary County High School in 1955, and moved to Muncie, Indiana. Shirley met her soulmate, Dennis at Gibson Skating Rink. They later got married on December 28th, of 1958, and spent 64 years together. Shirley dedicated over 20 years of her life as a baker at Yorktown Middle School. She also had the honor of being bestowed a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Dennis Green; sons, Gary (Kyle) Green of Muncie, Indiana and Barry (Kim) Green of Greenfield, Indiana and Brian (Deena) Green of Yorktown, Indiana; brother, Ronnie-Griffis; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Yorktown Manor for their care and compassion for Shirley.

Services for Shirley will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19th, 2023.

Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Rory Bond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
