Shirley Ann Hensley went to Heaven on March 1, 2026. Her prayers were answered, and she
was finally able to meet Jesus. She was born July 28, 1935 in Mason, Michigan to William and
Mary Benham.

Shirley graduated from high school in 1954. She attended Olivet Nazarene College in
Kankakee, Illinois until 1955, where she met Jerry Kennedy. In 1956, they were married and
blessed with three sons and three daughters. They moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1961. She
worked at Ross Corner in the office, then as a Teacher's Aide and Summer Recreation Arts and
Crafts Leader at Lincoln Elementary School for seven years. In 1974, she began working at the
Food Stamp Office, retiring from the State of Indiana in 1997.

In 1981, she remarried and spent over 44 years with Clovis Hensley in Muncie, Indiana. He
treated her like a queen and was very good to our family. They enjoyed many trips to Florida,
Arizona, and California. Time was spent bowling and playing cards with so many friends and
attending Bible studies with neighbors. They attended First Church of the Nazarene, where she
taught Sunday School Class and then later attended Union Chapel Ministries for over 30 years.
Shirley was a faithful servant all of her life. She would ask everyone she met if they attended
church or knew Jesus. She would say to them, "I want to see you in Heaven." Her prayer list
grew and grew with prayers for friends, co-workers, bosses, and church pastors. She often said
she was still here because she had too many people to pray for and wanted everyone to go to
Heaven. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and soul. She prayed for all of us every day.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Diana Kennedy of Muncie, IN, Tim Kennedy
(Lisa) of Muncie, IN, Steve Kennedy (Mel) of Catawba, SC, Melody Adams of Hernando, FL,
Kim Besser (Tony) of Dunkirk, IN, and Kevin Kennedy (Martha) of Columbus, IN.
Her grandchildren include Eric Kennedy (Tasi), Chandler Adams (Masha), Hannah Kennedy,
Olivia Kennedy (Jared Wicker), Malorie Murray (Josh), Joshua Kennedy, Jacob Kennedy,
Natalie Cassel (Jon), and Nicci Garr (Jeff).
Great grandchildren include Tano and Dylan Kennedy, Elise and Ada Kennedy, Elsie, Emma,
and Charlotte Murray, Lev and Luka Adams, Makennah and Peyton Chamness, Paige TenHove
(Conner), Marina Garr, and Hayes Wicker.

Shirley was preceded in death just a little over two months ago by her loving husband, Clovis,
her parents, three sisters (Betty, Dorothy, and Marilyn), a son-in-law (Roger Adams), and a
daughter-in-law (Margie Kennedy).

Visitation hours will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 N. Broadway Ave, Muncie.

Immediately following visitation, a service will begin at 1:00 pm.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303..

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Muncie Estates as well as the nurses from Southern
Care Hospice for all of their kindness and patience during this time.
