Shirley A. McCoy, 87, of Muncie, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 of natural causes at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Shirley was born August 5, 1928, in Muncie, to the late Everett and Clara (Fowler) Neal. She graduated from Royerton High School. She worked for the Ball State University for 24 years, retiring from the Ball State Counseling Center in 1991. She married Forest McCoy on December 24, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2011 after 63 years of marriage. Shirley was attended Center Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed reading, shopping, sewing, crocheting, and her cat, Casey. She especially enjoyed time spent with her great-granddaughters.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Leigh Ann Jones (husband Fredrick) of Muncie; daughter-in-law, Laura McCoy of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Kelly McCoy of St. Louis, MO, Stephen McCoy (wife Kim) of St. Louis, MO, Ashlee Mastin (husband Jared) of Muncie, Tyler McCoy (wife Alexandra) of San Diego, CA, and Adam Jones of Muncie; and two great-granddaughters, Alexis Mastin of Muncie and Molly McCoy of St. Louis, MO.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Clara Neal; her husband, Forest McCoy; son, Stephen McCoy; and two sisters, Betty Lueck and Pearl Watson; and two brothers, Everett Neal and Robert Neal.
A funeral service to celebrate Shirley''s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3 in Muncie. Pastor Rusty Clements will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Thursday, at Garden View Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in memory of Shirley.
