Obituary

Stanley Duane Landfair, 82, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on June 1, 2018 at Bell Trace.

Stanley was born on June 7, 1935 in Portland, Indiana to the late Stanley and Gladys (Wood) Landfair. He attended Portland High School in Portland, Indiana, and graduated in 1953. While in high school he met the love of his life Marlene. The two were high school sweethearts and were married August 18, 1956, they spent 61 wonderful years together and had 3 children. In 1957 Stanley graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education from Ball State Teachers College. He went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in education from Ball State University in 1966. While attending Ball State Stanley was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He began his teaching career at Eaton High School in Eaton, Indiana, and was employed by Muncie Community Schools from 1963 until 1993 first as a teacher then as an administrator. When he retired from teaching he spent several years in the real estate business with Century 21. In 1986 Stanley was a member and Vice President of the Delaware Muncie Metropolitan Planning Commission and became President in June of 1987 and held that position until December 1991. Stanley was a former member of the Muncie Elks Lodge, where he loved to play golf. Stanley loved going fishing with his long-time fishing buddy Don Morris and enjoyed river fishing with his sons and their friends. He also enjoyed boating with his family at Prairie Creek in Muncie.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene Landfair; children, Jeffrey Duane Landfair, Julie Ann Donatelli (Alex), Joseph William Landfair (Kim); brothers, Robert W. Landfair (Patricia) and Donald E. Landfair (Virginia); half-brother, James Landfair (Margaret); sister-in-law, Marsha Turpen; grandchildren, Joseph D. Landfair, Sarah E. Hinds (Brandon), Nicholas D. Landfair, Natalie M. Landfair; 2 great-grand- daughters, Hailee and Harlee Hinds; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Donnie and Marianne Chitwood.

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents.
