Obituary

Stephen 'Joe' Shook of Selma, Indiana, was born on August 30th, 1952, and
he passed peacefully at home among friends and family on August 29th, 2025.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Rebecca 'Becky' Sue (Bilby)
Shook, his children, Kerri Halligan (husband Glenn), Melissa 'Missy' Blackmer
(husband Joe), and Shawn Caldwell (wife Misty), his 9 grandchildren, Brandon
Blackmer, Kyleigh Blackmer, An'drew Caldwell, Makayla Jenkinson, Greyson
Halligan, Alison Pope, Kendall Halligan, Ethan Halligan, and Lily Halligan, and
his great grandchildren, Charlotte Caldwell, Emory and Jamison Jenkinson,
Elliot, Clara and Oliver Blackmer. He is also survived by his sister Berta
Morgan and brother Randy Shook.

Joe was a hardworking man who preferred keeping busy. He loved figuring
out how to fix things and creating things at work or in his barn, with the
music of the Eagles playing on repeat. Over his lifetime, he worked at
Brodericks, Warner Gear, New Venture Gear and Marion Stamping (GM), from
where he retired in 2024 after 31 years of service.

Joe enjoyed gardening and hosting family get-togethers. He was an amazing
cook. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and took many trips around the
country on it with his wife and friends. He was generous with his time, talent,
and love. He made sure to let each of his children know they were his
favorite when they were with him. There is a debate about who held that title
last. One thing is sure, his favorite (and only) daughter-in-law was Misty.
Joe held a very special relationship with all his grandchildren and with his
sister Janie Shook, who preceded him in death in July of this year. The family
takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with her and other family
members who preceded him in death, his parents, Oscar 'Junior' W. Shook
and Marjorie N. Bailey, his sister, Brenda Anderson, his son, Chad Marlow,
and his grandson, Nolan Halligan.
