Sylvia Carol Van Skyock, 72, passed away early Friday morning, April 16, 2010, at the Waters of Muncie Health Care Center.
She was born on June 21, 1937, in Ridgeville, Indiana, the daughter of Groe and Nannie (White) Rupe. Sylvia graduated from Selma High School in 1955 and lived in the Selma area most of her life.
Mrs. Van Skyock had been a Registered Nurse having served both Ball Memorial Hospital and Riverview Health Care Center, both of Muncie, before becoming a homemaker.
Sylvia loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing. She attended Selma Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Eric Lloyd Van Skyock, (wife , Anita), Anderson; one daughter, Julie Kay Gentry, Muncie; three grandchildren, Jacob Gentry, Muncie, Taylor and Rileigh Van Skyock, both of Anderson; one sister, Margrace Ladd (husband, David), Berrien Springs, Michigan; also by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Rex Rupe; and two sisters, Vivian O'Neill and Pat Fenimore.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Kent Stookey officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory north of Muncie.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary Monday, April 19, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
