Tamara Irene McCabe, 55, beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Tammy was born on September 11, 1955 in Muncie to Robert Vance Cox and the late Garnet Rosalyne (Coats) Cox. Tammy attended Delta schools and graduated in 1973.
Tammy obtained a culinary certificate from Waukesha College of Technical Careers. After returning from WI, Tammy was employed as a cashier for Ryan''s; worked food prep at McDonald''s; was a cook at a local nursing home for ten years; worked at Gaston''s Hickory Creek as an aide; and most recently was employed as a cashier at Meijer''s in Muncie for eight years. Tammy loved to listen to music, write poetry; go dancing with friends, read, play BINGO and card games, and spend time with family. Tammy also loved ships and boats, animals, cats, and regularly contributed to Muncie''s ARF.
Tammy is survived by her loving daughter Sarah Dawn McCabe; father Robert Vance Cox (wife, Laura); four sisters: Robin Ashcraft (husband, Duke); Sandra Cougill (husband, Ernie); Jeaneen Reimschisel (husband, Joey); and Vanessa Hartman (husband, Brad); and several nieces and nephews.
Tammy was preceded in death by her mother Garnet Rosalyne Cox; sister Sherry Wardwell; grandparents Leonard and Nellie Cox; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Troy Kausman will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either ARF'', 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303 and/or The American Cancer Society in memory of her sister, Sherry Wardwell, 1216 Meridian Street, Anderson, IN 46016.
