Dr. Ted S. Doles, MD, age 78, of Muncie, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Elmcroft of Muncie. He was born October 17, 1933 in Elkhart, IN to Walter S. and Frances (Bishop) Doles. He graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1951. He later graduated from Ball State where he earned his Pre-Med Degree and then graduated from IU School of Medicine with his MD. He was most known and loved as a General Practitioner in Muncie and the surrounding counties for 30 plus years. He worked 17 years at St. John''s Hospital and served as President. He also worked at Community Hospital for 4 years and at Ball Memorial Hospital from 1963 until retirement in 1994.
He married the former Marilyn Rust and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2005. He served his country in the US Army as a Medical Specialist. Ted was the Past President of Madison Co. Medical, a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, and the Delaware/Blackford Medical Society. He joined Grace Baptist Church in 1976.
Ted is survived by his sons, David Scott Doles (wife Carla) of Harlan, IN, James Allen Doles (wife Kelly) of Indianapolis, and Steven Joseph Doles (wife Teri) of Muncie; sisters, Ellen Bays of Indianapolis, and Sandra Sahlberg of New Castle; seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Bonnie Palmeri.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church, 6401 W County Road 50 South, Muncie, IN 47304 with Pastor Collins Glenn officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 Am until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park in Marion, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church, State of the Heart Hospice or Elmcroft of Muncie in honor of Dr. Ted S. Doles. The family would like to thank the staff of Elmcroft and State of the Heart Hospice for all of their caring and devotion to Ted over the years.
