Terry William Cooksey, 84, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2017 surrounded by his family at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.. He was born January 8, 1933 in Waterview, Kentucky, the son of the late Homer Cooksey and Audrey (Butler) Lilly.
Terry proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for General Motors as a Tool & Die Maker for 36 years at the Fishers Body Plant in Marion. Terry was a member of the Masonic Lodge Leigh Acres in Florida. He was a member of Halteman Village Baptist Church.
Terry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine (Dyer) Cooksey of Muncie; two sons, Terry Zane Cooksey ( Amy) of Louisville, KY and David Rex Cooksey( Nancy) of Muncie; three grandchildren Kimberley Wright (Tyler) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Cody and Cheven Cooksey both of Louisville, KY; seven Great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Edwards (Earl) of Muncie and Sue Blevins of Jamestown, TN. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter Kylie Cooksey.
Funeral Services for Terry will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastors Nathan Watson and Ron Ross officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A Lodge of Sorrow service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home
