Terry Wayne Skaggs, 56, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at The Heartland of Eaton after a courageous battle with cancer. Terry was born on June 1, 1954 in Muncie. After graduating from Southside High School Terry enlisted with the U.S. Army National Guard and served our country for over 20 years.
Terry was very proud to work as a Guardsman and with the National Guard for many years. He practiced his daily activities of pride, respect, and integrity to the fullest. In the latter years of The Guard he was a recruiter. Terry''s children will always remember him as a very work-oriented, structured, dedicated, and providing family-man. Terry also enjoyed motorcycles, basketball, football, NASCAR. His favorite teams and drivers were the Colts, the Pacers, and Tony Stewart.
Terry is survived by his loving children: Telina Huffman (husband, Eric) of Upland and Gregory Skaggs (wife, Leslie) of Markleville; mother Rosemary Lare of Muncie; brother Todd Lare of Bloomington; 2 sisters: Treva Celleghin (Swoape) of Westfield and Tammy Wilber of Hiram, GA; 6 grandchildren: Brianna, Ryan, and Ethan Huffman and Kadence, Kage, and Kaylynn Skaggs; mother to Telina and Greg, Terri May; close friend Kimberly Parish; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, 2011from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military rites honored by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
