Thelma E. Derringer, 100, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Waters of Muncie.
She was born in Paoli, October 14, 1907 the daughter of Clyde C. and Estie A. (Clement) Owen and went to high school in Paoli and later moved to Muncie. Thelma liked to travel, make quilts for babies and enjoyed craft making.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was the last member of the Mary Martha Sunday school class. She also had been active in the Delaware County Federation of Clubs and the Grand Army of the Republic (Civil War). Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Pickell, Muncie; five grandchildren, Stephanie Fleming, (husband-Paul), Ft. Wayne, Deborah S. Brown, Anderson, Todd E. Smekens, Ormond Beach, Florida, Pamela I. Karat, (husband-Praveen), Altamonte Springs, Florida and Patrick Owen Pickell, Muncie; one brother Arnold C. Owen, (wife-Mary Lou), Philadelphia, PA and Florida; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin; three brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Richard Pickell.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at The First Baptist Church, 309 E. Adams, Muncie, IN with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, 309 E. Adams, Muncie, IN on Wednesday February 13, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
