Thomas Leroy Cox of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 81 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital late Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born on March 15, 1940 in Muncie to the late Elmore and Margaret (Hickey) Cox.
Thomas married Marjorie Reynolds in Muncie 33 years ago. He was a loving husband. He worked for Ceco Corp Construction, serving more than 30 years in the construction industry. After his retirement, he continued his work as a crossing guard for Muncie Community Schools. He enjoyed his work with the kids during this time. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, GiGi, who will miss him dearly.
Thomas is survived by three daughters; stepsons, Jeff Gray (Jill) of Noblesville, Indiana and Duane Gray (Michelle) of Myakka City, Florida; granddaughter, Cassandra Cox; step grandchildren, Carly Jay (Eric), Amber Lee (Jeremy), and Peyton Gray; great grandson, Camden (Peewee) Clarkson; step great grandsons, Grayson Jay, Connor Jay, Caleb Lee, and Nolan Lee; special niece, Lanette Matthews; and several other nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Elmore and Margaret (Hickey) Cox; the love of his life, Marjorie (Reynolds) Cox; son, John David Cox; and sisters, Helen Rothenberger and Eldora (Sue) Huston.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to another charitable organization of the donor's choice.
