Timothy David Patterson, 24, of Muncie, Indiana passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette, IN. He was born October 9th, 1987 in Muncie. He graduated from Delta High School in 2006 and was currently attending Purdue University majoring in mechanical engineering technology and would have graduated in the spring.
In high school, Tim was a member of the Delta High School jazz band, pep band, and the swim team. Tim showed amazing strength and courage after a diving accident in June 2009, which left him quadriplegic. Despite the many obstacles, he lived his life independently and to the fullest. He loved playing quad rugby with the Indianapolis Brawlers. It made such a difference in his life. He also was a volunteer assistant swim coach at Delta High School after his accident.
Surviving relatives include his parents, Alan L. and Margery E. (Bean) Patterson of Muncie, two sisters, Tiffany Patterson (fianc, James Oriti) of Tipp City, OH, and Terri Yildirim (husband Ali) of Fishers, IN; and a niece, Leyla Hope Yildirim. He is also survived by grandparents Terrell and Virginia Bean of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, David and Beulah Patterson and an aunt Anna Lotz.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN from 4pm to 9pm and one hour before the funeral service. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 at the funeral home. Pastor and long-time friend Dillan Ketcham will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Wheels for Timmy" c/o First Merchants Bank, 1628 West McGalliard Road, Muncie ,IN 47304. Donations will be distributed to the Indianapolis Brawlers Quad Rugby team, the SCI Hope Fund, and Rise Up To Cure Paralysis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
