Tommie B. Chambers, 75, passed away unexpectedly at his residence late Monday afternoon, April 26, 2010.
Mr. Chambers was born on March 15, 1935 in Scott County, Tennessee, the son of Venbert and Roxie (Conatser) Chambers Sr.
Tommie married the love of his life Anna (Rhum) Chambers on August 1, 1960 in Muncie, and they celebrated almost fifty years of wedded bliss.
Mr. Chambers had worked for White Feather Farms as a Truck Driver for approximately fifteen years, following that he served the Laborers International Union of North America local #1112 in road construction retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where he had served as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and was involved in the youth camp as a Counselor. Tommie loved fishing, bird and squirrel watching and was a great cook. He enjoyed doing the cooking for family occasions.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two sons, Rick Chambers (wife, Cyndi), Indianapolis and Jeffrey Chambers, Muncie; three daughters, Julie Chambers, Indianapolis, Amy Wimbley, Muncie and Rachel Chambers, Muncie; eight grandchildren, Richard, Whitney, Andrew, Austin, Paige, Christa, Keely and Katie; two brothers, Jimmie Chambers, Indianapolis and Venbert Chambers Jr., Brownsburg; one sister, Brenda Robbins, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Semor, Dorsey, Jennings and Richard; two sisters, Joan and Betty Jean; and his son-in-law, Louis Wimbley, Jr.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Church of God of Prophecy 2000 W. 10th St. Muncie, with Pastors Jack Anderson and Nancy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory north of Muncie.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home or one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
