Troy W. Hicks, 75, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026. He was born in Jamestown, Tennessee, to the late Thelma (Voiles) Hicks and Lester Hicks.

Troy never met a stranger and had an unmistakable, contagious laugh that will be missed by many.

As a young man, he proudly served in the United States Army. He later owned and operated Hicks Tree Service in Muncie for 35 years. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife of 55 years, Vicki.

He loved cruising around in his vintage Ford truck, but what mattered most to him was time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Being “Papaw” was one of his greatest joys.

Troy is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his brother, Paul D. (Theresa) Hicks; his sisters, Louise (Chuck) Williams, Judy Delk, and Zona (Johnnie) Robbins; his children, Troy L. Hicks and Amanda (Chad) Holmquist; his grandchildren, Monica, Emily, and Jake Hicks, Nellee and Landon Holmquist; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lina Hunt, Leeta Hicks, and Debbie Spratt; and his brother, James Brannon.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m.
