Obituary

Velma Louise Blackmer, 87, of Yorktown, IN died Saturday November 24, 2007 at her residence in Yorktown. She was born on November 5, 1920 in Delaware County the daughter of Harvey Morris and Evelyn Emily (Dailey) Blackmer.
She was known for many years in the community as an avid women''s fast pitch softball player and accomplished bowler as well as for being a lover of animals, especially her dogs. She was a member of the American Legion in Daleville, IN and a member of the WIBC Bowling League
Velma retired as a property manager of the White River Boulevard Apartments which she managed for many years.
Surviving relatives include several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Joseph W. (wife: Virginia) and Robert H. (wife: Nancy) Blackmer, and a sister-in-law, Beverly Blackmer.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 27, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Eric Lambert will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to ARFF or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
