Verda M. Shreves, 80, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Liberty Village following an extended illness.
She was born October 24, 1929 in Yorktown, the daughter of Clarence and Dorotha (Maxwell) Armfield.
Verda was one of the original charter members of Northside Assembly of God Church where she was very active.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, crocheting and spending quality time with family.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Shreves, (wife, Cindy), Muncie; two daughters, Marilyn Clayborn, (husband, Ernest), Jamestown, Tennessee, and Judy Ashbaugh, (husband, David), Greenfield; a sister, Marna Brown, Muncie; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Shreves; and a sister, Patty Lyons.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Carlton Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, or one hour prior to services time on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank the hospice group and staff at Liberty Village for the care and kindness they gave to their mother while she was there.
