Verice Pointer, Sr. 64, of Muncie, departed on Monday, December 28, 2009.
He was born September 24, 1945, in Ruleville, MS.
Verice was a loving and devoted father and friend.
He enjoyed hard work and was a passionate and well known Tree Surgent in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted companion, Joann Scaife of Muncie; five sons, Verice (Shellie) Pointer, Jr. of Dayton, OH, Dereke Blakey of Boston, MA, Sidney Marshall of Indianapolis, IN, Chaunce Pointer of Muncie, IN and Robert Pointer of Anderson, IN; five daughters, Yalonda Pointer of Dayton, OH, Conswayla (Michael) Nixon, Teresa (Robert) Nevings, Arnia (Tommy) Woods, and Alea Pointer, all of Muncie; brothers, Elvin Pointer of Cincinnati, OH and Elzie Pointer of Muncie, IN; sisters, Johnnie Scott and Virgie Pointer-Wayne, both of Muncie; 46 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jerome Johnson, Steve Aul, Mother Sweat, Mother Scaife, and Mother Janie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Verice was preceded in death by both parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.P Pointer, Sr.; sisters, Francis Pointer and Frankie B. Broome; grandmother, Etta Lee Black; brothers, James Pointer, Henry Pointer and L.P. Pointer, Jr.; grandson, Tyrell Woods; great-grandson, William Pointer, Jr.; and nephew, Allie Pointer, Sr.
Funeral service is Saturday 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Living God, with visitation two hours prior to service.
Burial wil be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie.
