Obituary

Virgil J. Henry, 85, of Albany, died Sunday evening, December 9th, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born July 30th, 1927 in Dunkirk, Indiana and was the son of the late Don V. & Alice (Overla) Henry.
Virgil worked for 25 years as a Bakery Foreman at Hampton Baking Company in Redkey, McCormick Brothers in Albany for 12 years in supervision and Mid West Metal Products in Muncie as a plant manager for 20 years. He served as a volunteer for the Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie. Virgil was an active member of the Redkey Church of the Nazarene, serving as a trustee and member of the board. He was a volunteer with the Albany EMS. He loved spending winters in Florida and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Virgil was an excellent family man whom loved his family greatly.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn Sue Henry (Helm), whom he married June 26th, 1948; three sons, Virgil S. Henry of Orlando, FL., Scott A. Henry (Deb) of Dunkirk, and Shannon N. Henry (Beth) of Albany; a daughter Sandra Nahrwold (Charlie) of Albany; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three sisters Letha Henry of Albany, Elnora Rees of Albany, and Sandy Kaufman (Sonny) of Dunkirk; a brother Delnor "Bud" Henry (Penny) of Albany; several nieces and nephews; his favorite pet dog "Missy". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William Henry; two sisters Janet and Joann Henry.
Funeral Services for Virgil will be held Friday, December 14th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday evening, December 13th, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Redkey Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall Fund with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
