Virginia Ruth (Hussey) Springman died January 27, 2011. She was born February 10, 1923 to Doris (Duert) Hussey and Morton Hussey in Summitville, IN.
She grew up on a farm near Gaston and graduated in 1941 from Harrison Township High School. She married Francis X. "Frank" Springman on August 8, 1942. She was a bookkeeper at the Boy Scout office and also at the F.X. Springman Co. until her retirement in 1985.
Virginia enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and went to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and most of the continental United States. She especially enjoyed weekend drives with her husband Frank which they did regularly. She also loved playing bridge with a special group of ladies for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to have her children and grandchildren and their friends "around the house." She was a piano player and played while she was a young adult at Beech Grove United Methodist Church. It gave her joy to help others in need and did so many times over the years.
She was a member of St. Mary''s Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Stephen Springman (wife: Cherie) of Muncie, IN; Mark Springman (wife: Lori) of Fishers, IN; Gayle Kurek (husband: Rob) of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Alisa Springman; Scott Springman (wife: Rachael); Erin Springman and Connor Kurek; one great-grandchild Henry Springman; one sister, Barbara Ridgway; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Turner; Trula Springman; Frances Hussey; Virginia Lindon; and close friends Marjorie Ritchie and Marian Honzik.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2001, sister Phyllis Wirt and brothers Paul and Herbert Hussey.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 29, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Vickie Perkins will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home.
